Overview

With Armando Montaño, a lawyer, as our guide and friend, we explored various municipalities in the state of Puebla, in the hills and mountains; we investigated the loss of species, the displacement of communities, and their sociocultural implications in the Puebla region. For Armando, who has been climbing mountains for more than 20 years, the loss of flora and fauna signifies a spiritual void, a weakening of humanity. We observed how these communities, steeped in pre-Hispanic legacies, find refuge and a home in the land and how they watch their homes crumble with increasing frequency.
