Via Dolorosa

Overview

The Via Dolorosa is a historic street in the heart of the Old City of Jerusalem, revered as the path that Jesus Christ took on his way to his crucifixion. But Via Dolorosa is also, in modern-day Jerusalem, where Palestinian residents live under the constant threat of arrests by Israeli soldiers. It is thus a microcosm of both a religious history and a political present.
